Gary's Testimonial
Gary, an ONU Class 46 alum, shares his experience with the Operation New Uniform Program.
ONU knew I was focused on the wrong things even before I ever called. I came to ONU expecting help blowing wind in my sails to get me going - what I got was a blueprint and tools to build a ship whenever I need it. Bad habits were muted and new habits were developed giving me a foundation upon which the next 20 years of my life will be built.

I dealt with a great deal of anxiety making the decision to retire after 23 years because it was a “known” environment and a guaranteed paycheck, but upward mobility was proving to be further and further out of reach. I wanted to move on but having been in the military since I graduated high school, I felt inadequately equipped to prepare and excel in the private sector.
ONU has given me a new optimistic outlook and armed me with skills and strategies that give me a great deal more confidence to go out and approach the job search with great energy, conviction, and poise. They are not recruiters but they will go out of their way to make sure you network and they put you in contact with the many people they know to find the best fitting career for you. It does not stop on graduation day. We had weekly alumni calls and we have met or talked to previous classes about their progress, successes and lessons learned. They are part of your network from now on as well and we can all help one another. I look forward to meeting the next class and hopefully I can help contribute to them on their journey. Do not think about it, just apply to Operation New Uniform. You will be glad you did!

ONU acknowledges our military accomplishments but then in a holistic approach prepares us to shed that uniform off and don our new business attire with confidence, pride, humbleness, and determination.
Operation New Uniform is not just a military transition program like many that are out there just to accumulate numbers. ONU takes a military veteran by the hand literally and just polishes the diamond that we already are by having us really look in the mirror and shed all that head trash, that uniform and whatever role we played within the military. Now we can truly see ourselves, all that we can bring to any organization and most importantly our purpose.

For twenty-one years I was trained to think in one way. The world that I lived in was extremely black and white, and since retiring I continued that black and white mindset. I had been out of the military for five years and never transitioned. It’s almost as if I were speaking a foreign language. During this past five years I had quit jobs, been let go from jobs, and never really seem to fit in. Not realizing that I had yet to transition. Not until I attended Operation New Uniform.
O.N.U. changed my professional life. Going through this program has awakened me to the fact that there are shades of gray. Additionally, I learned a new language and a new mindset that I can apply to the corporate world. Once I learned that new language I was able to translate my resume, and not lose the importance of my accomplishments. Michelle, Kim and the O.N.U. team do an amazing job. Their instruction, leadership, and compassion are top notch. When I first started the program, I felt very rejected and alone. But the O.N.U. team helps rid you of that head trash, and puts your professional compass on course.

Many veterans, such as myself, find ourselves floundering around post separation re-employment. We become frustrated with the lack of opportunities and interviews. Operation New Uniform, reviews the veteran's talents and transposes them, to the applicable, civilian corporate sector.
ONU mentors veterans into being comfortable in the corporate world. ONU's passion for their system makes it possible for veterans to succeed far beyond what they thought possible. ONU is an outstanding program with an amazing brand. Michelle and Dr. Kim are relentless and committed to, making it impossible for program graduates to fail. The last few weeks, have incredibly impacted every area of my life for the better. It is said, " when you hang out with 9 successful people you will be the 10th". I look forward to continuing ONU’s mission with my cohorts.

For veterans dealing with post-separation frustrations, it may seem impossible to find a strategy that works in the hiring process journey.
Operation New Uniform creates business professionals with their divine curriculum – by showing “you do not have to transition alone.”

Thank you for helping me achieve the first of many accomplishments towards my new journey. The ability to see my worth, fight for deserved compensation, and set realistic goals has become a focus I lost sight of when transitioning from active duty. I'm forever thankful for this needed push.

We are faced with the very gravest of challenges; transition from the military being one of them. Some service members opt to find a "job" on their own, in hopes that their own accord and experience will get them in.
The organized approach to finding a career is well thought out by the principles of the Sandler Training Program. The program takes you out of your comfort zone and builds your confidence through practice and practical exercises. It does not work unless you put in the effort in and out of the classroom. The principles can be utilized in all aspects of your life; between the up-front contract to the pain funnel. Understanding and applying the fundamentals WILL aid you in your search for a CAREER.

ONU has guided me to be more secure in my identity and has enormously relieved me of some of my Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Symptoms. ONU is valuable for recent and past transitioning Veterans, whether they are just now separating from the military of have been separated for a number of years. ONU helps transitioning Veterans to prepare for the career search they want to pursue and find their identity post-military so they may succeed.

My transition began with failure, depression, rejection, and I no longer had my title. I drove over 200 miles every day to be a part of this program. ONU helped bring me from a dark place and realize my self worth all over again. ONU helped to bring me out of my depression. I want to say thank you to ONU.
